Montmartre - A Vibrant and Historic Neighborhood in Paris

Country: france

Discover Montmartre, known as the Artist-Painter District, on this livestream walking tour with me, Patrick, your guide in Paris! Montmartre's small steep streets lead to the oldest cabarets of the city, and the surroundings of the Basilica of the Sacred Heart, Basilica of Sacré Coeur de Montmartre, - where many artists and restaurants with terraces - awaits you. Montmartre was an independent municipality until 1860 when it became the 18th arrondissement of Paris. At the end of the 19th century, the neighbourhood gained a bad reputation with the new establishment of cabarets and pass houses in the area. However, many artists who saw the potential and charm of this neighbourhood have settled here to make up the wonderful atmosphere that it is today. The most bohemian area of Montmartre is the Place du Tertre. This is one of the most pleasant areas of the neighborhood, both for terrace dining and to admire the works of art of painters installed all over the square. Small steep streets lead to the Basilica of the Sacred Heart, a magnificent sanctuary that offers incredible panoramic views of the city. The stairs of the basilica are very often crowded with tourists and Parisians who come to spend the afternoon to enjoy the famous view. During our virtual tour you will be able to ask me questions and chat with fellow participants as I broadcast to you live from out on location.
